In Sanskrit language, the word chakra means wheel or a spinning disk; they represent the flow of energy in a human body. In the ancient Indian text called Vedas, it is said that the entire universe is made of energy and so is our bodies. They further claim that this spinning energy (chakras) moves inside our body and  has 7 specific centers along the spine, neck & the crown of our head. Although some people has professed that there are in total 114 chakras all over the body. These chakras are the energy centers, which regulate our emotions. Each chakra in our body is linked with a particular body part.

What are the seven centers of the chakras?

Being aware of Chakras & the importance of its balance can help a person getting more rigorous to the natural energy cycle. These chakras also maintain a right balance of energy to each of our body, mind & spirit parts. They are located along the spine, neck and the crown.

They are the energy houses in our body and hence have a direct relation with our health, mind, body, spirit and aura. Below are the specific location of the chakras and their significance.

  • The Root Chakra or Muladhara Chakra

Located on the base of spine, the root chakra also known as muladhara chakra in Sanskrit, where ‘mula’ means ‘roots’ and ‘adhara’ means ‘basis’. It is the first chakra of our body. It incorporates everything which ensures stability in a human life, such as food, health, wealth, safety, shelter and other basic emotional needs. In layman’s terms everything which helps a person to stay grounded and connected with the Earth.

 

This chakra is identified with the color red.

  • The Sacral Chakra or Swadhisthana Chakra

The second chakra in a human body is sacral chakra which is found right under the belly button. The meaning of swadhisthana chakra in Sanskrit is one’s own dwelling, it looks after pleasure, flow & movement in life. This chakra of people is blocked by fear, especially the fear of death.

 

It is identified by the color orange.

  • The Solar Plexus Chakra or Manipura Chakra

Manipura chakra is the center of confidence, self-discipline, vitality & wisdom. It is the third most powerful chakra that is located under the rib cage behind naval. This chakra empowers many personal sides of a person and helps in achieving a desired life.

Although, stress & anxiety are the biggest reason for its blockage.

This chakra is represented by the color yellow.

  • The Heart Chakra or Anahata Chakra

 

The fourth chakra is known as the heart chakra or anahata chakra. It connects people through feeling. It is deeply associated with compassion and love. The heart chakra is located in the center of the chest and one can feel an utmost connection with his/ her soul or the greater power. It also helps a person in emotional healing.

It is represented by the color green

 

  • The Throat Chakra or Vishuddha Chakra

Vishuddha chakra is present right above the heart. This chakra allows us to express who we are and gives the ability to convey our ideas, inspire others and  align our vision with actuality.  It also helps in maintaining a balance between listening & speaking.

 

It is represented by the color blue.

  • The Third Eye Chakra or Ajna Chakra

The sixth chakra is the another powerful chakra, which forms a link between our mind and the outer world. The meaning of Ajna chakra is ‘beyond wisdom’, it means detaching oneself from physical and mental illusion and form a relation beyond that. It is located between the eyebrows. The third eye chakra is generally referred as the ‘eye of consciousness’

The color Indigo represents this chakra.

  • The Crown chakra or Sahastrara Chakra

The seventh and the highest chakra is located on the top of a person’s head. It is the greatest chakra, which connects the divine power to our spiritual nature. It forms a kind of intimate and immense attachment with the cosmos. A balance in this chakra is believed to be impossible to achieve. Although this can further lead to other chakra’s balance.  This chakra is a truest and the deepest form which makes it impossible for humans to balance.  Violet is the color which represents crown chakra.

 

It is said that all these chakras are interconnected and is associated with our body parts. So if any of the chakra is imbalanced or not moving properly then a person’s health will affect and can also affect the other chakras. So it is important for us to maintain a sober balance in chakra to lead a healthy & fulfilled life.

They are the strengths that a person has in itself and according to many studies if these power houses are well balanced then a person can completely transforms his life into a ball of powerful strength.
